Back log!

Ok, I have not posted in forever! In case you have missed us or anything like that, sorry. :(
First my appologies for the odd format---I can not seem to figure out how you get the photos moved around in the body of the text, they just appear and then are stuck! Oh well, they are at least here.

We enjoyed Christmas. The first Christmas with the boys. They did not really know what to make of it. They are so good to just take things in stride. They thought the big tree in the house was something remarkable. They kept calling it a big flower. Nate kept asking if it was his birthday now and if it was still Kedus' birthday. Talk about confusion! We had fun. It was fun to see a bit of my brother and his wife and son. The kids got to play with Jonah and that was a fun time. Some photos of Christmas here.

Kedus celebrated his 4th birthday on the 23rd (his BD is the 24th). That was fun. He just kept saying, "for me????" All he wanted was two balloons and cake and ice cream. He got it and more. Fun. We tried Ethiopian food (had to use an alternative to injera though).... that was all very yummy and the boys ate a ton. Ok, kids are not supposed to like spinich and beets but these boys could eat that all day and never complain. Here are a few photos of the Birthday.

We have enjoyed 3 trips to Frisco for skiiing. Dave, Phoebe and Olivia enjoyed skiing with Gram and Grampa and I got to go one time too. The kids got some swimming in at the condo too. Nate and Kedus found it to be much funner than the first time they went -in Ethiopia- when they were terrified of the entire idea. HA! Some photos of this event are here too.

Other than that, the boys are enjoying preschool after understanding that they are never, ever in any way ever going to be left anywhere and will ALWAYS be part of this family. This was very reassuring. They also repeat the beloved fact that even if they are naughty that Mommy and Daddy will still love them and nothing will change that. That is a very comforting thing for them apparently as they repeat it multiple times daily, with great affirmation on my part! :) The kids all went to the dentist and the boys really did very well with toothbrushing and x rays and all that. No tears, smiles all around. We do love our kid dentist. Dr. Souza if you are in the area, check them out. The boys also had a check up and last catch up immunizations. OK, that was traumatic. Shots are just not any kids best thing. We went to McDonald's after that for a special reward and they kept singing "Old McDonald had a farm" all the way there and asking if there would be animals there. I tried to explain that it was a place to eat, not a farm. No comprendo! When we got there they asked if the man behind the counter was the farmer and" is this the barn?" LOL! Too cute. They had a great time playing with some kids in the play area. I think the white kids were the minority that day and there were at least 3 languages being spoken. Kids are so great, it was so natural for them to all just get along and work together. They had a great time and momentarily forgot the shots. Of course after that Nate limped around for 2 days. Funny how playing at McDonalds you forget and suddenly at home you are soooooo in pain! HA! He did not apprecite mama rubbing the muscle either. Poor guy.

The girls are enjoying the boys for the most part. I think they are going to do a few posts here for siblings. I need to figure out how to catagorize these posts so they can be looked at by those interested in certain topics. They are enjoying school and friends and the recent snow! Thank God for some snow! They continue to enjoy art, take piano lessons and have joined a science club that meets once a week after school. That has been fun for them. Everyone is looking forward to summer. It must be officially spring!

We have been enjoying a bit of a diversity in church as a family. We always enjoy Dillon Community church in Summit County when we are up there. Pastor Brian really gives a good message straight from the Bible with so much to apply!!! Wishin' they had a pod cast! We have really enjoyed the latest sermon series from Woodman Valley Chapel. Living Life as Worship. It has been great. We have been in the congregation a few times but mostly listen to it by pod cast. We have been attending Tri Lakes Chapel for the last several weeks. We really like what we see there. Solid teaching, meaningful worship service and a focus on small groups/connection and a focus on meeting people where they are at. No one is perfect and let's not pretend we are. A very intentional vision and working out of such. Opportunities to be involved, etc....

Hope you are all well.

Keep on the Sunny Side

The Whites - Keep on the Sunny Side
(Depression Era song)

There's a dark & a troubled side of life
There's a bright, there's a sunny side, too
Tho' we meet with the darkness and strife
The sunny side we also may view

[cho:] Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us ev'ry day, it will brighten all the way
If we'll keep on the sunny side of life

The storm and its fury broke today,
Crushing hopes that we cherish so dear;
Clouds and storms will, in time, pass away
The sun again will shine bright and clear.
Let us greet with the song of hope each day
Tho' the moment be cloudy or fair
Let us trust in our Saviour away
Who keepeth everyone in His care
